NP / Psychiatry - Child/Adolescent / Illinois / Permanent / Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Job


Advanced Practice Nurse - Psychiatry (Full-Time--Day/Evening)- needed with the largest pediatric provider in the region!

General Summary of Position Responsibility:  The Advanced Practice Nurse works within the multidisciplinary clinical team to provide individualized patient care and patient/family education. S/he promotes evidenced based practice by conducting or participating in research and academic activities. S/he provides support to the nursing and leadership staff.  The role is unique to the Advanced Practice Nurses specialty area and in accordance with individual credentialing and privileging through the Medical Staff Office.

-  Independently provides comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic evaluations for children and adolescents, with emotional, behavioral and learning problems as well as developmental delays. 
-  Independently develops effective and therapeutic treatment plans/interventions for psychiatric symptoms for children and adolescents.  These primarily will include psychopharmacology and evidence based treatment modalities (CBT, supportive therapy, individual therapy and Family therapy).
-  Independently provides psychiatric medication evaluation and medication management services for all patients in the general outpatient clinic in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. 
-  Able to manage psychiatric crises in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, utilizing departmental training, protocols and procedures.
-  Provides formal and informal education to all members of the health care team regarding the psychiatric needs of their shared patient.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-  Master’s degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing appropriate for certification as a Nurse Practitioner 
-  Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience required, preferably in pediatrics.
-  Licensure in the State of Illinois as an APN is required.
-  Experience as delineated in clinical privileges through credentialing by the Medical Staff Office.
-  Basic Life Support certification required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required in some specialty areas.
-  Any other certification required for specialty area.
-  Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
