Receiving Physician Needed

Job Summary:
Provides and manages direct health care for patients in a correctional facility.

Essential Functions:

1.  Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for patients in a correctional facility.

2.  Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.

3.  Maintain medical records and charts documenting all medical services rendered.

4.  Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.

5.  Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.

6.  Follows established departmental policies, procedures and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

7.  Will adhere to Armor’s Standards of Professional Conduct, and will incorporate and/or be supportive of Armor’s four core FISH! Philosophies – i.e. Play, Be There, Make Their Day and Choose Your Attitude.

8.  Respond to requests from Security Staff as well as Armor Staff in accordance with Armor and Facility Guidelines. This includes following the rules and regulations for employee conduct/behavior and chain of command set forth by the command staff at all times while working within the detention/correctional facility.

9.  Performs other duties as assigned.


Skills Knowledge and Abilities:

•  Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
•  Ability to maintain quality, safety and infection control standards.
•  Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the deliver of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.
•  Knowledge of federal, state and correctional body standards and institutional regulations and guidelines for the provision of medical services.
•  Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions and progress.
•  Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.
•  Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
•  Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
•  Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.


Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

•  Work is performed in both clinical and office setting.
•  Moderate physical activity
•  Clinical work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.

Skills
Education and Experience Requirements:

•  State license as an M.D. or D.O.
•  Board certified or board eligible
•  DEA license
•  Current CPR certification
•  Other relevant professional experiences or educational backgrounds will be considered as deemed appropriate. However, when licensure is required bu local, state, federal or contractual guidelines, we will not alter our position on those requirements.
