Overview of Position:

Under the direct supervision of the Medical Director, the Endocrinologist is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of patients for hormonal diseases and conditions related to the endocrine glands.

Qualifications:

Medical degree(s) appropriate to his/her specialty from an accredited medical college or university. Completion of an approved Residency program. Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified.

Knowledge/Skills:
•Possesses specific knowledge of all areas of endocrinology.
•Demonstrates ability to detect and diagnose thyroid conditions, hormonal causes for infertility, diabetes, tumors, and other gland-related diseases.
•Exhibits professional but friendly bedside manner.
•Is capable of conducting independent research outside of hospital and/or private office hours.
•Possesses physical and mental stamina required for working long hours.
•Pays close attention to detail.
•Can remain patient and calm in high-stress hospital settings.
•Exhibits excellent analytical skills.
•Works well with a team of other physicians and nurses.
•Demonstrates strong leadership skills.
•Communicates clearly and effectively.
•Is able to explain medical conditions to patients in clear and straightforward terms

Essential Job Functions:
•Sees patients and reviews basic medical history.
•Inquiries about current symptoms and reasons for doctor’s visit.
•Conducts exams and tests to determine likelihood of endocrine gland related issues.
•Analyzes lab results and presentation of symptoms to arrive at conclusive diagnosis.
•Devises and assigns proper course of treatment.
•Advises surgery when necessary.
•Works with other specialized physicians to treat and cure certain conditions, such as glandular tumors.
•Writes and renews prescriptions for medications.
•Logs all patient visits and medical information and maintains patient records.
•Follows up with patient to track condition.
•Provides advice for patients regarding the daily management of their diseases or conditions.
•Advises outside therapy when needed.
•Attends endocrinology conferences to learn about newest forms of treatment.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hand to finger, handle or feel object, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
