Description

Permanent Inpatient Oncology Pharmacist needed for a large health system in Naples, FL. A newly expanded unit with private patient rooms will be the work space for this decentralized position. This pharmacist will be responsible for clinical consultation, drug therapy, training and communication, and detecting and assessing adverse drug reactions.

Job Description:

The Oncology Pharmacist will be responsible for the preparation, dispensing, and monitoring of medications used throughout the facility.
This person will be expected to sustain an environment for the safe, rational, effective, and efficient use of medications prescribed to patients of all age groups. Direct supervision of technical support personnel will be required.
Responsibilities:
  • Detecting, assessing and concisely reporting adverse drug reactions and medication errors.
  • Ensuring the clinical appropriateness of medication prescribing and reconciling and resolving any drug-related problems directly with the prescriber.
  • Providing drug information, clinical consultation, and clarifications of drug therapy to healthcare professionals.
  • Effectively utilizes the patient medication profile, pertinent lab data, or other drug monitoring parameters to screen for drug allergies, significant drug interactions, and proper dosage.
  • Attending interdisciplinary patient care rounds, providing in-service education to patients, healthcare practitioners, or other community groups and serving as a Pharmacy representative for other committee
Education Requirements:
  • BS Pharmacy (5 year degree) from College of Pharmacy accredited by American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Experience: Oncology pharmacist.
  • Inpatient hospital experience as staff pharmacist is required.
  • PharmD with Oncology Residency preferred.

Shift Information:

The expanded Oncology unit (70+ private patient rooms) will be staffed by Pharmacists 7 days per week, 10 hour shifts per day. The pharmacists will work between the hours of 8a - 8p and cover every other weekend.

Job Requirements

Education: BS Pharmacy (5 year degree) from College of Pharmacy accredited by American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Experience: Oncology pharmacist inpatient hospital experience as staff pharmacist is required.
Training: Licensure: State of Florida Department of Professional Regulation, Registered Pharmacist Licensure Other: PharmD with Oncology Residency preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, data entry skills, analytical and basic math skills required.
