Hospital located in Central Texas has a full-time, permanent opportunity for a licensed Psychiatrist to join their team!

The Psychiatrist Opportunity:
- Full-time, permanent, DIRECT-HIRE position
- Setting: hospital system located in Central Texas, this position most likely will be practicing at one of the affiliated free-standing clinics

- General practice but Psychiatrists with Pediatric experience is a desirable experience/background as well


Psychiatrist Responsibilities:
- Review patients’ medical history and collect additional information from family members and psychologists as needed
- Evaluate patients’ emotional, behavioral and mental state through discussion, observation and analysis
- Identify mental disorders and determine best treatments
- Develop therapy plans
- Prescribe medications
- Analyze medical tests and track patients’ progress
- Coordinate with healthcare professionals when hospitalization is required
- Advise patients on how to cope with mental diseases and emotional breakdowns
- Support patients’ loved ones and inform them about the patient’s condition
- Research medical issues and new medical treatments to update your knowledge on mental healthcare

Psychiatrist Qualifications:
- Must have a MD or DO degree from an accredited program/university with completed residency in Psychiatry
- Must be a Texas state licensed Psychiatrist or eligible to obtain if out of state applicant
- Must be certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, ABPN certification
- In-depth knowledge of various psychotherapeutic methods
- Must have at minimum 2 years of clinical experience in a hospital/clinic capacity
- Highly preferable to have previous experience or the desire to possibly obtain leadership responsibilities in the future
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain medical terms and conditions to a non-medical audience
- Strong observation skills to accurately evaluate patients’ demeanor and identify symptoms
- Demonstrable excellent bed-side manner and the ability to remain calm, empathetic and patient while interacting with patients who suffer from severe mental disorders
- Must be a team player and comfortable with working in a small town community
