Description
Presque Isle, Maine: We invite a talented Physical Medicine & Rehab Physician to join the employed staff of the largest medical center in northern Maine – an 89-bed acute care hospital offering a wide variety of primary and specialty care, acute inpatient, diagnostic and surgical services. Become part of a medical staff that enjoys solid administrative support, honorable work ethics, and a strong commitment to quality patient care. This hospital is part Maine’s second largest healthcare system – a progressive non-profit that ranks among the top 100 integrated health systems by IMS, serving hundreds of thousands of Maine residents.

This is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer.

In this practice, you will see and treat patients with a variety of spine, neck and low back complaints that include traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and lower back or shoulder pain. You will diagnose, treat and provide counseling to prevent diseases and disorders related to the nerves, muscles and bones. You will develop treatment options that include procedures focused on alleviating pain. You will be supported by an experienced clinical team and enjoy referral and consult relationships with the hospital’s primary care and surgical teams.

A flexible schedule is available to provide you with an exceptional work/life balance. Leadership and teaching opportunities are also available, if desired.

You will have secure hospital employment, and you will earn an excellent salary along with benefits including a sign-on bonus, paid relocation assistance, paid liability insurance, health, disability and life insurance, plenty of paid vacation time for sick leave and vacations plus paid holidays, additional PTO plus a budget for your CME, assistance with student loan debt, and more!

Rural northern Maine enjoys a beautiful four-season environment supporting a huge variety of local recreational pursuits. Whether you prefer hiking and biking, boating on the local lakes and rivers, hunting and fishing, cross country skiing or golf, you will find attractive options here. This area is also a hub for dogsledding and even hot air ballooning! Enjoy the abundant wildlife, including moose, deer and bald eagles – reasons many seasonal visitors visit the area to enjoy a quiet summer retreat, or an exciting winter snowmobile excursion. The Nordic Heritage Center is an impressive training facility in cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the wintertime, with trails for mountain biking and hiking during the warm seasons.

Presque Isle’s schools are highly rated – particularly the Maine School of Science and Mathematics – a magnet school in nearby Limestone for gifted students that ranks in the Top 20 of all US schools. Three colleges have branches in Presque Isle, including the University of Maine.

This region is full of history and heritage. Attend a local festival or celebration, be impressed by the many thousands of acres of productive farmland (famous for Maine potatoes), or visit one of several local museums to learn more about Aroostook County – the largest county east of the Mississippi. Enjoy local restaurants – many benefitting from French Canadian influences – and browse the interesting shops for Maine-made crafts, regionally produced maple syrup, and much more.

Presque Isle boasts a regional airport with direct flights to DC and Newark for easy connections to destinations around the world. Many residents of northern Maine enjoy visiting Canada – Quebec City is a four-hour drive – or head south to Bangor, Maine’s third largest city, a 2.5 hour drive.
