Description
Level 3 Trauma Center
Stroke and STEMI center
70k visits
12 shifts a day, shifts are 12 hours, 7-7
Shifts are 6a-2p x2, 8a-4p, 8a-5p,11a-7p, 12P-8P, 2p-10p x2, 3p-11P, 5p-1a, and 10p-6a x2
There are always two board certified ED physicians on 24/7
Current group includes 18 board certified ED physician and 5 mid levels
Significant overlap of shifts
Average 1.5-1.8 patients an hour
No shortage of procedures (expected to be able to do all ER procedures)
Anesthesia, Pedi Hospitalist, Hospitalist in house 24/7
Trauma surgery on call 24/7, expected to be at bedside in 30 minutes for critical trauma
Other on call specialties – Orthopedics, neurosurgery, neurology, ENT, GI, Nephrology, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery
Intensivist in house 7a-7p, Hospitalist cover ICU from 7p-7a but Intensivist in on call
ED does not respond to hospital airways or codes
Also have a FAST track option that sees ESI 3-5

Skills
Ideal Candidates:
•  Board certified/board eligible internal medicine or family medicine trained physician
•  Comfort managing medically complex patients
•  Collaboration and engagement with the interdisciplinary team
•  Spanish language proficiency is a plus but not required
Hospitalist Responsibilities:
•  Direct care and develop comprehensive treatments plans for adult hospitalized patients
•  Communicate with patients and/or their designated healthcare advocate on progress and plans
•  Ensure appropriate transfer of care when assigned hours of service end and upon patient discharge from the hospital
•  Document daily involvement in patient care in the medical record and record charges appropriate to the level of service provided and documented
•  Opportunity to participate in quality and process improvement projects as well as hospital committees
•  Perform duties in a manner that complies with all applicable standards, rules, policies, and regulations of the hospital, Joint Commission, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations
