Job Summary:

We are in search of a professional and passionate Critical Care Specialist with specific expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and support of critically ill and injured patients, such as trauma victims and patients with multiple organ dysfunction.

Candidates should be well-versed in the technological procedures and devices used in intensive care settings and have excellent decision making skills. Physicians should also be versed in diagnosis, advance directives, end of life decisions, and offer compassion in counseling patients and their families.

Must have excellent organization skills as well as the ability to lead and work with a team, often while working under pressure.

Responsibilities:

Intensivists are trained to provide time-restrained emergency medical care, life support and organ support.
Provide care from the point of first contact, working swiftly to stabilize and diagnose the patient and perform any life-saving procedures.
Diagnose and treat patients, provide the appropriate amount of medication to treat and help stabilize the patient’s pain level.
Stabilizing and comforting patients, intensivists provide any further care necessary, monitor the patient’s progress, and create detailed reports that will allow other physicians to properly treat the patient once they have left the ICU.
Compassionate with excellent communication skills.
Direct and coordinate activities of hospital staff for proper patient care.
Maintain the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of the American Hospital Associations Bill of Rights for patients.

Requirements:

Current medical license in state of practice required.
Certification required from the American Board of Medical Specialties.
Five (5) plus years of residency training in more than one specialty.
Excellent communication, compassion, and organizational skills.
Strong clinical diagnostic skills.
Capacity to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
The ability to communicate information in layman terms to patients and/or their families.
Specialists must have knowledge of pharmacology, physiology, cardiology, neurology, various monitoring techniques, organ support and replacement systems, resuscitation, and many other time-restrained medical techniques and procedures.
