Augusta, Maine: We invite a sharp ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON to join the established 10-surgeon team practicing in Maine’s newest hospital – a 190-bed regional medical center in the state capital city, just 50 minutes from Portland. This physician-led nonprofit hospital is the area’s largest private employer and Maine’s third largest healthcare system, serving 65,000 people. This is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.

We seek a Surgeon with Fellowship training in Total Joint Arthroplasty, including revision surgery. You will practice in a group with 4 Orthopaedic Surgeons who perform Total Joint replacements – 2 of whom plan to retire soon. So, you will inherit a busy referral base for both primary and revision total joint surgery, making for an interesting and varied practice.

Operate in a state-of-the-art environment with all the latest tools, including a DaVinci Xi robot. Enjoy a convenient weekday schedule (40 hours) and share call with 10 other Surgeons, giving everyone a great work-life balance.

The hospital’s Musculoskeletal Center is a 30,000 sq. ft. facility housing multiple Orthopaedic subspecialties (Sports Medicine, Hand Surgery, Joint Replacement, Spine Surgery, Foot and Ankle Surgery, Orthopedic Trauma surgery) in one place – along with podiatry – and specialists in Physiatry, Neurology, Rheumatology and Occupational and Physical Therapy. Surgical support services include General Surgery, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery, and ENT Surgery.

The medical center is home to an unopposed Family Medicine Residency Program, and a non-surgical Sports Medicine Fellowship with 5 Sports Medicine Physicians plus 2 Fellows annually, giving you a great opportunity to teach residents and fellows.

This hospital-employed position offers a very competitive income guarantee and productivity bonus, with benefits including paid relocation assistance, insurance (medical, dental, vision, life, and disability), paid time off for sick leave and vacations, paid holidays, more paid leave plus a budget for your CME, an onsite daycare facility, a choice of retirement plans with employer matching, and more. Generous medical education loan repayment is available.
