Augusta, Maine: We seek a skilled NURSE PRACTITIONER or PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT to join the important Physiatry and Pain Management practice in Maine’s newest hospital – a state-of-the-art 190-bed regional medical center in the state capital city, just 50 minutes from Portland. This physician-led nonprofit hospital is the area’s largest private employer and Maine’s third largest healthcare system, serving 65,000 area residents. This is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer committed to positively impacting the health of their community through services and involvement.

We need a provider to demonstrate compassion for individuals with chronic diseases and chronic pain, working with patients to establish healthy boundaries regarding physical and emotional health and social life. Join a collaborative team of 4 physicians, 4 nurse practitioners and a psychologist, plus RNs and MAs – all enthusiastic about evidence-based occupational medicine in this fast-paced outpatient setting. You will occasionally see inpatients in the rehabilitation unit too. Choose your own weekday schedule, either 4 longer days or 5 shorter ones (40 hours).

In this role, you will treat the “whole person,” not just the area of pain/injury. You will have plenty of time to hear from your patients, and to answer their questions, while counseling and educating patients and their families. Careful management of controlled substances is a priority. You will offer treatments and make referrals, working closely with physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, nutrition and behavioral pain medicine teams to help your patients find relief from pain and allowing them to have a safe, fulfilling quality of life.

This hospital-employed position offers a competitive salary plus benefits including paid relocation assistance, insurance (medical, dental, vision, life, and disability), paid time off plus paid holidays, more paid leave plus a budget for your CME, an onsite daycare facility, a choice of pension plans, and more. Generous medical education loan repayment is available.
