This physician-led nonprofit hospital is the area’s largest private employer and Maine’s third largest healthcare system, serving 65,000 area residents. This is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.

We are looking for an enthusiastic specialist committed to patient-centered care to be the lead for this state-of-the-art 12-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (Stroke Rehabilitation Certified through the Joint Commission) with expansive diagnostic services. The Rehab Unit is telemetry ready, with lift systems in each room, a horticulture program and mobility garden, and more. You can expect to treat such things as stroke, neurological disorders, hip fractures, amputation, brain injuries, SCI, deconditioning and multi-trauma. This unit is supported by an expert Hospitalist team and many hospital-employed specialists.

You will report to the Medical Director of Physiatry. As the primary inpatient provider, you will see your discharged patients for outpatient follow-ups for continuity of care, and for various procedures. Join a collegial, collaborative team with 3 Physiatrists and 4 NPs – all enthusiastic about evidence-based occupational medicine. Call and inpatient coverage is shared with other Physiatrists. The medical center is home to an unopposed Family Medicine Residency Program and various Fellowships, giving you a great opportunity to teach residents and fellows.

This hospital-employed position offers a highly competitive salary and Directorship stipend along with benefits including paid relocation assistance, insurance (medical, dental, vision, life, and disability), paid time off for sick leave and vacations, paid holidays, more paid leave plus a budget for your CME, an onsite daycare facility, a choice of retirement plans with employer matching, and more.
