Description
Portland, Maine: We invite a skilled ICU/CCU HOSPITALIST to join the excellent inpatient care team of a respected 200+ bed acute care, non-profit medical center in this highly desirable city. This is a full time, employed position with a medical center that accepts all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. As part of the state’s second largest healthcare system, this hospital is financially strong.

Physicians trained in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine are encouraged to apply. Recent graduates are welcome. Those with Fellowship training in Pulmonology and/or Critical Care will receive priority attention. This is an Equal Opportunity Employer. This hospital offers a great culture and collaborative team environment. Their newly renovated and expanded hospital campus boasts peaceful, healing views, a cafe known for its delicious and nutritious homecooked meals, onsite parking, and easy access for convenient commuting.

Hospitalists here work a convenient 7-on/7-off schedule that prioritizes your work/life balance. You will manage CCU admissions, consultations and procedures, with intensivist back-up as appropriate. We need a physician who can perform (or has strong interest in improving/acquiring skills) in placing central lines and arterial lines, paracentesis, thoracentesis, lumbar punctures, endotracheal intubation, basic ventilator management, and point-of-care ultrasound. Training and support are available to help you develop/improve any needed skills.

You will work closely with Pulmonary/CC specialists from a local group whose doctors consult on all critically ill patients and provide procedural support as needed. Join quality colleagues caring for adult patients and supervising/collaborating with nurses and physician extenders. You will not be limited to the CCU – and will manage admissions/care for patients on other medical floors. You will perform medical consultations, educate patients and their families, and participate in clinical quality improvement projects and patient safety initiatives. This team seeks the highest level of patient satisfaction.

You will earn a terrific compensation package consisting of a very competitive salary plus a cash sign-on bonus and comprehensive hospital benefits including relocation assistance, paid liability insurance, health, disability and life insurance, and generous multi-year student loan assistance.
