Description
Farmington, Maine: We need a full time HOSPITALIST to join a first-rate inpatient team in a progressive, award-winning 48-bed acute care community hospital. This medical center provides a wide range of services to 40,000 area residents. As a part of Maine’s largest healthcare system, you will have job security and access to outstanding specialists.

Physicians trained in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine are encouraged to apply.

You will be proud to work for a nonprofit, patient-centered organization that boasts excellent patient satisfaction ratings and low turnover. This medical center is nationally renowned for its innovative programs in rural healthcare. Practice in a modern hospital on a picturesque campus where the buildings sit nestled into pine trees surrounded by nature trails and a spectacular garden that’s ideal for picnics or meditation.

You can look forward to friendly colleague interactions on this team, and with local physicians in this popular and growing college town in scenic west-central Maine. Join a group of experienced Physicians and APPs and enjoy an exceptional work-life balance with a flexible schedule of 14 10-hour shifts per month (day/night rotation). Three people work each day shift (two Physicians and an APP), with one Doctor covering overnight. Teaching opportunities are available when medical students and residents from Portland and Boston rotate to the hospital.

The typical daily census ranges from 10 and 22 patients and sometimes includes orthopedic and surgical patients. Hospitalists manage critical care patients including ventilator management with full time onsite Respiratory Therapy support. They routinely perform tests and procedures (such as EKGs and stress tests), provide surgical and ED consultations, and more. Candidates who are ready to manage intubation, central line placement, lumbar puncture, paracentesis and thoracentesis will receive priority consideration, but these skills are not required.

You will earn a terrific package that includes a competitive salary plus a cash sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, paid liability insurance, medical, dental and vision insurance, life and disability insurance, a budget for CME time and expenses, paid time off for sick leave and vacations, a retirement plan with employer matching – even a season pass to a local ski resort! Assistance with your student loan debt is also available.

This is your invitation to settle in a safe and friendly community amid unsurpassed natural beauty. Farmington is a popular college town in the scenic mountain foothills of west-central Maine. Farmington is home to a branch of the University of Maine (a Top-20 public Liberal Arts college) that is famous as a school for teachers. The charming downtown district is classic New England, where 19th Century brick storefronts house appealing shops, home-style eateries, bookstores and more, surrounded by vintage Victorian homes – creating a welcoming ambiance.

Maine residents enjoy nearly unlimited four-season outdoor recreation activities. Enjoy scenic hiking in places like the pristine Rangeley lakes region and take in the panoramic views. Other options include mountain and trail biking, challenging golf courses, hunting and fishing, and boating of all kinds – from kayaking to motorboating and waterskiing – even whitewater rafting. In winter, try the local family-operated ski slopes, or visit Maine’s premier winter resorts just an hour away – including world-class skiing at Sugarloaf Mountain.

This year, Maine was rated the #2 Best State for Living and Working, and the #2 Safest State in the US. This is a terrific place to live and to raise a family. This area is wonderful for singles or for families, with attractive real estate in Farmington and several surrounding towns. Choose among homes in suburban-type neighborhoods, on clear lakes and streams, along lush mountain ridges, or adjacent to historic agricultural property. The local schools are excellent. You might settle in the popular Belgrade lakes region 30 minutes from Farmington. Maine’s capital, Augusta, is less than an hour away and offers extensive shopping and dining, a multiplex theatre, and a civic center hosting concerts and sporting events. Farmington is less than 2 hours to Portland and the International Jetport, the nightclubs in the Old Port district, hundreds of restaurants, all forms of music, art and culture, and several semi-pro sports teams too.
