NP / Nurse Practitioner / New York / Locum tenens / Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner - Bilingual (Spanish) Job

A health services network in New York City is currently seeking a Spanish-speaking, licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join their growing team in Queens. In this role, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for performing medical evaluations, conducting groups related to wellness and self -management, provides psycho-education to improve participants understanding and management of specific disorders. 

About the Opportunity:

• Start Date: ASAP
• Schedule: 3 days a week
• Hours: 9am to 5pm or 12pm to 8pm
• Setting: Mental Health Clinic
• Population: All ages
• EMR Used: Cerner

Responsibilities:

• Determine clients diagnosis and psychiatric needs, prescribe the medication to be utilized during the course of treatment, and provide education
• Review the appropriateness of the existing medication regimen through review of the medication record and consultation with the client and staff to prescribe and/or administer medication
• Conduct Psychiatric evaluations, psychiatric updates, health monitoring, smoking cessation, and crisis intervention 
• Follow-up on referrals made on behalf of the participant and respond to all referrals in a timely and professional manner, recognizing the need for effective collaboration in order to insure the highest levels of service provision
• Collect urine specimens for toxicologys
• Participate in the development of new service initiatives, including research, analysis and preparation of written reports
• Participate in all audit processes
• Participate, as needed, in Agency response to serious incidents
• Perform other duties as assigned

• 1+ year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner (NP)
• Master's Degree in Nursing or equivalent
• NYS Nurse Practitioner license
• Active Suboxone certification
• Current CPR (BLS), First Aid certification
• DEA 
• ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) Certification
• Bilingual (English and Spanish)
• Computer savvy and Data Entry skills
• Great interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong attention to detail
• Highly organized
