Description
Skowhegan, Maine: We seek an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the medical staff of an independent 25-bed critical access hospital in a scenic riverside town an hour from Bangor (Maine’s third largest city). This community medical center provides healthcare to more than 30,000 residents in central Maine. Join more than 40 providers (and 700+ employees) delivering progressive medical services in impressive state-of-the-art facilities.

You are invited to join a busy INTERNAL MEDICINE practice and provide primary care to adults, seniors and geriatric patients – many of whom are elderly with chronic issues. As part of a physician-led team, you will join other APPs seeing ambulatory patients in a comfortable outpatient office setting. This is a full time hospital-employed position with a convenient weekday schedule. Become part of a collaborative team supported by an experienced, dedicated crew. In this environment, they prioritize positive interpersonal skills and collaborative working relationships with team members at every level.

You will be employed by the hospital and will earn a highly competitive salary (estimate $135K) with bonus potential and benefits that include relocation assistance, life, health and disability insurance, liability insurance, paid time off for vacations, holidays, sick leave and CME time, a budget for your CME expenses, and more. Student loan assistance is also available.

Come to beautiful Maine and see why it earns the nickname, Vacationland! Maine is the #2 State for Living and Working and the #2 Safest State in the USA. Skowhegan is the jumping-off point to The North Woods, an outdoor recreation lover’s dream, with dozens of lakes and rivers and scenic mountains. Winter provides reliable snow for many miles of groomed snowmobile- and snowshoeing-trails. Locals frequent Eaton Mountain (3 miles from the hospital) for skiing, snowboarding and sledding, or the big slopes of Sugarloaf Mountain, one of New England’s premier ski facilities, 40 miles away. In summer, enjoy activities offered by the beautiful waterways throughout the region. Try some of the best trout fly-fishing in New England, or kayaking or white-water rafting, along with hiking and biking, golf and camping. There is something for everyone who loves the outdoors. Moose and bald eagle sightings are common here.

Skowhegan schools are highly rated, and your home options are varied. Choose a vintage Victorian home downtown, or a comfortable suburban place in a family-filled neighborhood, or a historic farmhouse with acreage to enjoy. You might purchase land with woods or pastures or streams and build your dream house.

Skowhegan is on the picturesque Kennebec River, which once powered local industry. The rolling hills of southern Somerset County mark an area rich in history, with a vibrant economy. The Skowhegan State Fair brings fun and food to town each August, with a petting zoo and local food and crafts. Surrounding communities offer art, theatre, gyms, children’s programs, unique restaurants and more – making this a terrific place to raise a family. Skowhegan is 30 minutes north of the popular college town of Waterville (Colby College), and 60 minutes west of Bangor, with an international airport, children’s museum, casino/hotel, summer music and arts festivals on the riverfront, and more. Skowhegan is 1 hour from Maine's spectacular coast, and 90 minutes from Portland, with hundreds of restaurants, theaters, a symphony orchestra, semi-pro sports, the International Jetport, and the high-energy Old Port district of shops and nightclubs. Skowhegan is 3.5 hours from Boston, and 3 hours from Quebec, Canada.
