This position serves as the Medical Director for BSSH and focuses on the provision of medical / clinical leadership of a complex inpatient psychiatric hospital that is located in Big Spring, TX. Medical Director This position primarily focuses on leading the psychiatric and general medical care provided to adults with serious mental illness, co-occurring disorders (substance abuse, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and medical illness), and likely involvement in the criminal justice system. The Medical Director will provide both leadership and support to facility clinical functions. As such, an ability to work with all disciplines, from direct care staff to consulting physicians, is essential for the provision of optimal care plans with the ultimate goal of partnering with a variety of stakeholders as appropriate to: integrate our clients back into the community, return to the judicial system for adjudication, and / or to refer to other less restrictive settings. In addition to providing overall clinical / medical leadership for the hospital, specific duties include the supervision and management of evaluation of commitment needs, supervision of Psychiatrists, Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, supervision of psychiatric residents, participation in clinical and system committees. Up-to-date psychopharmacology knowledge, electronic health record usage and general computer skills are key requirements. Will also oversee the provision of client services via telepsychiatry.
